New cinema development

Durham County Council granted planning permission for a new retail and leisure development on land at Fylands Bridge, which includes a six screen cinema, restaurants, and bulky retail units.

Update on the proposed new cinema and leisure development

The developer involved, Land Planning Partnership, has indicated that they have signed up a cinema operator, restaurants and bulky goods retailers, and most of the units have now been taken up, meaning that construction of the development is now viable.

Indications in the local media are that work is due to start on the new retail and leisure development in Spring 2017, should take around 12 months, and when complete should create 300 local jobs.
